How the flooring calculator works
We multiply length × width for room area, add a waste factor for cuts and mistakes, then divide by the coverage printed on your flooring box. Always buy full boxes — and one extra for future repairs, since dye lots change.
Why the waste factor matters
Straight-lay installs waste about 10%. Diagonal layouts, busy patterns, and rooms with lots of corners push that to 15–20%. Running out mid-job often means a mismatched replacement box.
Should I buy an extra box?
Yes. Keep one sealed box as attic stock — if a plank gets damaged years later, a matching dye lot is nearly impossible to find.
